Men's Golfer of the Week
Drew Mathers, Huntingdon - The senior from Mobile, Alabama placed first out of 102 golfers at the Rhodes Fall Collegiate Classic in Tunica, Mississippi last week by shooting a 14-under par 202 which sets a new NCAA-era program record for a 54-hole tournament. In the three-round event, Mathers opened with a seven-under par 65, which set the program NCAA-era record for strokes under par for a single round. He followed with a two-under par 70 and finished with a five-under par 67. Mathers helped the Hawks to a first place team finish. Also Nominated: Kevin Burris, Pfeiffer; Frankie Schmitt, N.C. Men's Golf Rookie of the Week
Elias Haavisto, Averett - The freshman from Kotka, Finland placed tied for eighth out of 61 golfers at the Don Scalf Memorial in Rocky Mount, North Carolina last week by shooting a one-over par 145. In the two-round event, Haavisto opened with a two-over par 74 and finished with a one-under par 71 to help the Cougars to first place team finish. Also Nominated: Fred Roberts, Piedmont; Kevin Burris, Pfeiffer; Luis Zurita, N.C. Wesleyan; Jacob Dunlap, Maryville; Angus McHolme, Methodist.
