MEN'S BASKETBALL

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Eric Peaks, Jr., Greensboro - The senior forward from Durham, North Carolina averaged 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.5 assists per game as the Pride posted a 2-0 record versus USA South competition last week. In a 95-87 win at Pfeiffer, Peaks totaled 12 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists. In a 94-85 victory over Piedmont, Peaks posted 25 points, four rebounds, three steals and one assist. Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Quae Charlton, Berea - The freshman guard from Richmond, Kentucky averaged 20.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game as the Mountaineers posted a 1-1 record last week against USA South competition. In a 92-77 win over LaGrange, Charlton posted 13 points, two rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. In an 87-73 loss to Huntingdon, Charlton totaled 28 points, two rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block. Also Nominated: Matthew Brown, Greensboro; Beau Bryant, William Peace; Corey Baldwin, Averett; Cam Gwyn, Maryville; Logan Cranford, Piedmont.

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Brooke Carthon, Averett - The Atlanta, Georgia senior guard averaged a double-double of 12.7 points and 10.7 rebounds to go along with 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game as the Cougars posted a 3-0 record on the road last week against USA South competition. In a 51-41 win at Mary Baldwin, Carthon totaled six points, ten rebounds, two assists and two steals. In a 64-57 victory at Pfeiffer, Carthon notched a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds with five assists and five steals. Finally, in a 72-62 win at Methodist, Carthon posted 11 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Also Nominated: Brina Bentley, Pfeiffer; Sydney Bowen, Salem; Sadie Desroches, LaGrange; Aaliyah Hampton, Berea; Shelby Hix, Maryville; Kayla Johnson, N.C. Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Kate Perko, Meredith - The Fayetteville, North Carolina freshman forward averaged a double-double of 21.0 points and 18.5 rebounds, to go along with 4.0 assists and 3.5 blocks, per game as the Avenging Angels posted a 2-0 record last week against USA South competition. In a 68-57 win at Methodist, Perko recorded 20 points, a career-high 20 rebounds, three assists and three blocks. In a 69-39 victory over Salem, Perko scored 22 points, grabbed 17 rebounds dished out five assists and blocked four shots. Also Nominated: Nyesha Best, N.C. Wesleyan; A.B.
