USA South Athletes of the Week - Feb. 6, 2023

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Isaiah Lewis, N.C. Wesleyan - The senior forward from Knightdale, North Carolina averaged 24.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.0 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game as the Battling Bishops posted a 2-0 record last week against USA South opposition. In a 73-67 win over William Peace, Lewis had a team-high 17 points with eight rebounds, one assist, and one block. In a 106-93 victory at Pfeiffer, Lewis became a member of N.C. Wesleyan's 1,000-point club as he notched a career-high 32 points to go along with six rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one block. Also Nominated: Montell Moore, Methodist; M.J. Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Koa Baker, Southern Virginia - The freshman guard from Eagle Mountain, Utah averaged a double-double of 20.0 points and 12.0 rebounds to go along with 2.5 assists, and 1.0 steals. as the Knights went 1-1 last week against USA South foes. In a 73-60 win at Greensboro, Baker tied a single-game program record with 16 rebounds to compliment scoring 15 points with four assists and two steals. In a 71-68 loss to Brevard, Baker scored a career-high 25 points with eight rebounds and one assist. Also Nominated: Derrion Hicklen, Methodist; Jadon Carnes, Brevard.

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Lauren Livingston, Greensboro - The Greenwood, South Carolina sophomore guard scored a game-high 24 points with three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in the team's only contest of last week, a 90-57 win over USA South foe Meredith. Also Nominated: Dionne Sampson, Salem; Barrett Jessop, Southern Virginia; Kayrisma Harrison, N.C. Wesleyan; Naliyah Boyce, Brevard; Tanaesha Ellison, Pfeiffer; Kate Perko, Meredith.

Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week
Hannah Isley, Pfeiffer - The China Grove, North Carolina freshman forward averaged a double-double of 10.0 points and 10.0 rebounds, to go along with 3.3 steals and 1.7 blocks per game as the Falcons posted a 2-1 record last week against USA South competition. In a 59-49 win over Brevard, Isley totaled eight points, 12 rebounds, and a career-high six steals. In a 78-73 victory over Salem, Isley scored a career-high 20 points with eight rebounds, a career-high four blocks, and three steals. Finally, in a 64-45 loss to N.C. Wesleyan, Isley scored two points with ten rebounds, one steal, and one block. Also Nominated: Minnie Griffin, Salem; Abigail Snyder, Southern Virginia; Kaniya Cromartie, N.C. Wesleyan; Olivia Miller, Brevard; Rylie Wade, Meredith.
