USA South Golf Athletes of the Week - March 22, 2023

MEN'S GOLF

Men's Golfer of the Week
Cooper Hrabak, Methodist - The junior from Medina, Ohio placed tied for fifth out of 150 golfers at the Jekyll Island Collegiate last week by shooting a five-under par 211. In the three-round event, Hrabak opened with a one-over par 73, followed by a one-under par 71, then a final five-under par 67. Also Nominated: Quin Foster, Pfeiffer; Myles Patterson, N.C. Wesleyan. 

Men's Golf Rookie of the Week
Jonny Lewis, Methodist - The freshman from Yorba Linda, California placed tied for 25th out of 150 golfers at the Jekyll Island Collegiate last week by shooting a two-over par 218. In the three-round event, Lewis opened with a six-over par 78, followed by a three-under par 69, then a final one-under par 71. Also Nominated: Daniel Runkel, Pfeiffer.

 

WOMEN'S GOLF (considering events from 3/8-3/21)

Women's Golfer of the Week
Jillian Drinkard, Methodist - The graduate student from Appomattox, Virginia placed 13th out of 120 golfers at the Jekyll Island Collegiate last week by shooting an 11-over par 227. In the three-round event, Drinkard opened with a six-over par 78, followed by a five-over par 77, then a final even-par 72. Also Nominated: Erin Donovan, Piedmont. 

Women's Golf Rookie of the Week
Erin Donovan, Piedmont - The freshman from Southaven, Mississippi placed tied for 18th out of 120 golfers at the Jekyll Island Collegiate last week by shooting an 13-over par 229. In the three-round event, Donovan opened with two four-over par 76s before finishing with a five-over par 77. Also Nominated: Ashlyn Strickland, Pfeiffer.
