(BUENA VISTA, Va.) - The 2024 USA South Women's Basketball Tournament championship took place on the campus of Southern Virginia University on Saturday, February 24 as the top-seeded, host, Knights earned the program's second League tournament title in three years by defeating third-seeded N.C. Wesleyan, 69-41.

The Knights asserted themselves quickly, opening the game on a 10-0 run in the first four minutes of play, and closing the first quarter with a 21-10 lead. It was more of the same in the second quarter as the Knight lead grew to 19 points after the first 20 minutes. After a Battling Bishop bucket opened the third quarter, Southern Virginia went on another 10-0 run and opened up a 30-point lead with ten minutes remaining. N.C. Wesleyan closed the final quarter strong but it was not enough as the Knights hoisted the trophy.

Southern Virginia's Addison Newman led all scorers with 24 points to go along with three rebounds, three steals, and one assist. Ruth Kempler added a double-double of 15 points and a game-high rebounds as Maria Savvun chipped in 14 points and five assists for the Knights. N.C. Wesleyan was led by Kayrisma Harrison who posted team-highs of nine points and eight rebounds.
