USA South Athletes of the Week - March 17, 2025

  • Baseball Player of the Week
    Rush Bowman, Greensboro - The senior from Greensboro, North Carolina went a combined 8-for-11 (.727) with a .787 on-base percentage, and a 1.091 slugging percentage to go along with three runs scored, five RBI, one double, one home run, and two walks as the Pride posted a 4-0 record last week. The wins included one over fourth-ranked Lynchburg and a three-game sweep of USA South foe Mary Baldwin.     Baseball Pitcher of the Week
    Josh Little, Pfeiffer - The graduate student from Stoneville, North Carolina earned a complete game victory in his only appearance last week, an 8-1 win over USA South rival N.C. Wesleyan. Little allowed one run on nine hits with two walks and six strikeouts.     Baseball Rookie of the Week
    Gavin Turner, William Peace - The freshman third baseman from Cary, North Carolina went a combined 12-for-23 (.522) with a .542 on-base percentage, and a .565 slugging percentage to go along with four runs scored, five RBI, one double, and one walk as the Pacers posted a 1-4 record last week. In the lone victory, a 12-11 victory over 18th-ranked Christopher Newport, Turner was 3-for-6 with three runs scored and three RBI. Also Nominated: Conner Ferebee, N.C.     Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
    Nick Neubauer, Greensboro - The freshman from Clearwater, Florida appeared in one game out of the bullpen and received the victory in a 6-5 win over fourth-ranked Lynchburg. Neubauer came on in the top of the ninth inning and tossed a perfect inning, allowing his offense to win the game in the bottom of the frame. Also Nominated: Colin Weathers, Brevard.

  • Softball Player of the Week
    Reagan Stewart, William Peace - The junior from Garner, North Carolina went a combined 15-for-23 (.652) with a .667 on-base percentage, and a .957 slugging percentage to go along with six runs scored, 14 RBI, four doubles, and one home run as the Pacers posted a 4-2 record last week. In addition to her action at the plate, Stewart was also 3-0 in the pitching circle. Also Nominated: Lynsey Plunkett, Methodist; Kayla Autry, Southern Virginia; Skyler Walker, N.C.     Softball Pitcher of the Week
    Logan Masinsky, Brevard - The sophomore from Columbia, South Carolina appeared in three games, two starts, last week for the Tornados, posting a 1-0 record. In 18.0 total innings, Masinsky posted a 0.78 ERA and allowed three runs (two earned) on 19 hits with six walks and four strikeouts. The lone win was a complete-game, six-hit, shutout against Delaware Valley.     Softball Rookie of the Week
    Taylor Byrd, William Peace - The freshman centerfielder from Burlington, North Carolina went a combined 11-for-23 (.478) with a .478 on-base percentage, and a .739 slugging percentage to go along with five runs scored, five RBI, four doubles and one triple as the Pacers posted a 4-2 record last week.     Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
    Deana McMinn, Brevard - The freshman from Hendersonville, North Carolina appeared in two games, both in relief, last week for the Tornados, posting a 1-0 record. In 5.1 total innings, McMinn posted a 2.63 ERA by allowing two runs on six hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Also Nominated: Addyson Romanczyk, N.C. Wesleyan; Taelor Ware, Southern Virginia.

  • Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
    Isaac Harrington, Piedmont - The junior attackman from Palatine, Illinois totaled 12 points on seven goals and five assists as the Lions posted a 2-0 record against USA South competition (LaGrange and Methodist). Harrington also added five total ground balls in the victories. Also Nominated: William English, William Peace; Justin Barry, Greensboro; Andrew Brown, Pfeiffer; Connor Angst, Huntingdon.

    Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
    Mike Eisele, Piedmont - The junior goalie from Alpharetta, Georgia earned two victories last week as the Lions defeated USA South foes LaGrange and Methodist. Eisele played 91 minutes and posted a 2.64 goals-against-average with a .818 save percentage thanks to 18 total saves. Also Nominated: Brandon Goad, William Peace; Jake Bandler, Methodist; Jack Hicks, Brevard; Korbin Hamilton, Pfeiffer.

    Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
    Ian Kuysten, Piedmont - The freshman defender from Suzanne, Georgia totaled two caused turnovers and six ground balls last week as the Lions defeated USA South foes LaGrange and Methodist. Kuysten helped the Piedmont defense hold the opposition to six total goals scored. Also Nominated: Jaxon Mcmonigle, Huntingdon; Dylan Sullivan, Pfeiffer; Quinton Solomon, Greensboro; Kanyun Avner, Southern Virginia.

  • Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
    Reese Walker, Meredith - The junior attacker from Fayetteville, North Carolina totaled 17 points on nine goals and eight assists in a 2-0 week for the Avenging Angels with wins over Southwestern and Carroll. Walker also added six ground balls and six caused turnovers in the two victories. Also Nominated: Emily Denaga, Brevard; Kate Hudson, Huntingdon; Mikayla Ramos, Methodist; Skyla Jo Charette, Pfeiffer; Clara Welch, Piedmont; Ellie Patterson, Southern Virginia; Mary Langer, William Peace.

    Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
    Kennedy Martin, Methodist - The senior midfielder from Wilmington, North Carolina totaled six caused turnovers, nine ground balls, and nine draw controls, to go along with a goal and an assist, as the Monarchs posted a 1-1 record last week, a loss to Mary Washington and a win over USA South foe Brevard. In the victory over Brevard, Martin became the USA South career record holder for caused turnovers.     Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
    Payton Hill, Huntingdon - The freshman attacker from Niceville, Florida totaled six points on five goals and one assist to go along with three ground balls and one draw control 1-1 week for the Hawks. In the lone win, a 15-14 victory over USA South foe Pfeiffer, Hill scored four times with one assist. Also Nominated: Logan Campbell, Meredith; Rylie Sturgill, Methodist; Ansli Cannon, Piedmont; Makenzie Mickelsen, Southern Virginia; Sam Huff, William Peace.

  • Women's Tennis Player of the Week
    Paula Snelson, Southern Virginia - The senior from Brasilia, Brazil earned a singles and doubles win, both at the number-one spots, last week in the team's lone contest against USA South foe Meredith. In doubles, Snelson teamed with Natalia Molanphy to grab the victory. Also Nominated: Katie Sechrist, Methodist; Hailey Ingenito, Pfeiffer.

    Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
    Helen Boeshore, Methodist - The freshman from Fairmont, North Carolina earned a 2-1 singles and doubles record last week for the Monarchs. At the number-six singles spot, Boeshore earned wins over opponents from Marywood and Franciscan. In doubles, at the number-three spot, Boeshore teamed with Veva Willocks for wins over Marywood and Franciscan. Also Nominated: Fanny Apostolou, Pfeiffer.

    Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
    Sydney Cohen and Riley Isley, Pfeiffer - The Falcon duo earned a 2-0 record at the number-two spot last week with wins over opponents from Dickinson and Penn State Harrisburg. Also Nominated: Emma Hulicki and Caitlin Tihanovich, Methodist; Natalia Molanphy and Paula Snelson, Southern Virginia.
