The USA South Athletic Conference will once again give a nostalgic look at institutional staff members each Friday as a part of the Conference's #FlashbackFriday initiative. The Conference will showcase an individual's past, both in visual and written forms, detailing where they have been and how they currently serve their athletic department. Nathan Newsome - Salem College - Assistant Director of Athletics for Business Operations and Development, Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach
- Former baseball student-athlete at East Carolina University where he earned a bachelor's degree in art education in 1993.
- Received a Master of Arts in school administration from Gardner-Webb in 2005.
- Named Male Athlete of the Year at West Forsyth High School in 1989 where he lettered in football, wrestling, baseball, and track & field.
- A combined Nine-Time Central Piedmont Conference Coach of the Year at West Forsyth in cross country and track & field.
- Earned North Carolina High School Athletic Association 4A Runner-Up Coach of the Year for girls cross country in 2018 and 2019 as well as girls indoor track in 2019.
- As a high school educator, was responsible for leading one of the top visual art programs in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system, teaching advanced art, earning awards on a local, regional and national level in visual arts.
- Qualified and competed in the 2018 Boston Marathon.
- In his first year with Salem as it re-instates its cross country program and begins track & field.
- Also serves Salem as its Assistant Director of Athletics for Business Operations and Development.
