USA South Athletes of the Week - September 29, 2025

  • Men's Soccer Player of the Week
    Tate Hickman, Southern Virginia - The Logan, Utah freshman forward scored four goals and assisted on another in a 2-0 week for the Knights. In a 5-0 win over Regent, Hickman notched a hat trick of three goals, including the first of the match which turned out to be the game-winner. In a 2-1 victory over USA South Brevard, Hickman scored the first goal of the match before assisting on the eventual game-winner in the 83rd minute.     Men's Soccer Defender of the Week
    Alex Michael, Pfeiffer - The New Orleans, Louisiana junior defender helped his team to a 2-0 record last week, which included one conference shutout, while also scoring three times. In a 6-2 win over Virginia State, Michael notched his second consecutive hat trick by scoring three goals, two of which were from the penalty spot and one of which was the eventual game-winner. In a 1-0 victory over USA South rival N.C. Wesleyan, Michael anchored a defense which helped the Falcons snap an eight-match skid against N.C. Wesleyan.     Courtney Montes, Southern Virginia - The El Paso, Texas junior forward scored three times as the Knights posted a 2-0 record last week against USA South foes. In a 10-0 victory over Salem, Montes notched a hat trick with three goals. In a 2-0 win over Meredith, Montes was scoreless but managed four shots on goal.     Women's Soccer Defender of the Week
    Hailey Gadd, Southern Virginia - The Kaysville, Utah senior defender helped anchor a Knight defense which posted two shutouts against Conference foes. Southern Virginia first defeated Salem, 10-0, before shutting out Meredith, 2-0. Also Nominated: Shae Brennan, Greensboro; Abby Nunez, Brevard; Alexis Mansfield, Mary Baldwin; Kaylee Ollis, Pfeiffer; Michaela Iapaluccio, Salem.

    Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week
    Xoie Warner, Southern Virginia - The Riverton, Utah freshman forward scored three goals and added two assists in a 2-0 week for the Knights against USA South foes. In a 10-0 win over Salem, Warner notched a hat trick of three goals to go along with assisting on the eventual game-winner. In a 2-0 win over Meredith, Warner assisted on an insurance goal in the 88th minute.   • Volleyball Player of the Week
    Aspen Bradley, Salem - The senior middle hitter/right side from Redmond, Oregon averaged 4.00 kills, while hitting at a .412 clip, as the Spirits defeated USA South foe Southern Virginia, 3-1, in the team's lone match of last week. In a rematch of last season's USA South Tournament title, Bradley compiled 16 kills with three digs and two blocks. Also Nominated: Payton Shiflet, Greensboro; Aubrey Packer, Southern Virginia; Faith Miller, Pfeiffer; Caitlyn Russell, Meredith.

    Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
    Madison Bozarth, Salem - The junior libero from Greensboro, North Carolina averaged 6.25 digs and 1.25 assists per set as the Spirits defeated USA South foe Southern Virginia, 3-1, in the team's lone match of last week. In a rematch of last season's USA South Tournament title, Bozarth totaled 25 digs, five assists, and three service aces. Also Nominated: Morgan Mayfield, Greensboro; Jamie Holton, Methodist; Megan Murray, Meredith; Gabby Edwards, Pfeiffer; Jadyn Smith, N.C. Wesleyan; Ryann Vail, Southern Virginia.

    Volleyball Rookie of the Week
    Addison Johnson, Methodist - The freshman outside hitter from Laurinburg, North Carolina averaged 3.00 kills, with a .368 attack percentage, and 2.33 digs per set as the Monarchs defeated USA South rival N.C. Wesleyan, 3-0, in the team's lone match last week. Johnson posted nine kills with seven digs, and one block in the win. Also Nominated: Emma Broadbent, Southern Virginia; Anasty Faavesi, Pfeiffer; Abigail Kelly, Brevard; Emilee Wilson, N.C. Wesleyan; Polly Lennie, Salem.

  • Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
    Sawyer Helms, Pfeiffer - The Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina senior placed 12th out of 132 runners at the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals two weeks ago. Helms completed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 25:16. Also Nominated: JR Alepa, Greensboro.

    Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week
    Jorge Clemente-Garcia, Pfeiffer - The China Grove, North Carolina freshman placed 21st out of 132 runners at the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals two weeks ago. Clemente-Garcia completed the 8,000-meter course in a time of 25:31. Also Nominated: None.

  • Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
    Ryan Germain, Pfeiffer - The Newport, North Carolina sophomore placed 77th out of 105 runners at the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals two weeks ago. Germain completed the 6,000-meter course in a time of 25:53. Also Nominated: McKenzie Koos, Greensboro.

    Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week
    Lily Bolz, Pfeiffer - The Lexington, North Carolina freshman placed 104th out of 105 runners at the NCAA Division III Pre-Nationals two weeks ago. Bolz completed the 6,000-meter course in a time of 35:26. Also Nominated: None.
