The semifinals of the 2025 USA South Men's Soccer Tournament has concluded with second-seeded N.C. Wesleyan and fifth-seeded Methodist advancing to head to the championship match.
In the first semifinal, N.C. Wesleyan came back on two occasions to eventually earn a 3-2 victory over third-seeded William Peace. The Pacers struck first on a Santiago Escobar goal in the 35th minute and took the one-goal lead into halftime. After each team exchanged penalty kicks, the Battling Bishops tied things up in the 65th minute off of a goal from Israel Monsanto and got the eventual game-winner in the 83rd minute from Jordi Rodriguez.
In the nightcap, Methodist and top-seeded Pfeiffer would need penalty kicks to decide who would advance. After a scoreless 110 minutes of play, the Monarchs hit all four of their penalty kick attempts while the Methodist goalkeeper, Trey Gohr, stopped two of the four Pfeiffer shots.
The finals are now set as Methodist will travel to N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday, November 8. The Monarchs will look to grab their third tournament title while the Battling Bishops seek the program's fifth championship.
