  • Men's Basketball Player of the Week
    Doug Smith, Pfeiffer - The Bodin, North Carolina senior forward averaged a double-double of 16.5 points and 12.5 rebounds, to go along with 6.0 blocks and 2.0 assists, per game last week as the Falcons posted a 2-0 record against USA South foes. In an 80-71 win over Brevard, Smith notched a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds with four assists and two blocks. In an 88-78 victory over Greensboro, Smith tallied his second-career triple-double with 14 points, 13 rebounds, and ten blocks. Also Nominated: Ashton Davis, Southern Virginia; Justin Burden, N.C.     Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week
    Ashton Davis, Southern Virginia - The Apex, North Carolina freshman center averaged 24.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game last week as the Knights posted a 2-0 record against USA South opposition. In a 90-87 win over Greensboro, Davis scored 27 points with eight rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one block. In a 77-71 victory over N.C. Wesleyan, Davis totaled 21 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Also Nominated: None.

  • Women's Basketball Player of the Week
    Anaya Hall, N.C. Wesleyan - The Fayetteville, North Carolina junior forward averaged a double-double of 23.5 points and 10.0 rebounds, to go along with 1.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game as the Battling Bishops posted a 2-0 record last week against USA South foes. In a 71-65 win over Meredith, Hall notched a double-double of 24 points and ten rebounds to go along with one assist and one steal. In a 66-50 victory at Salem, Hall tallied a double-double of 23 points and ten rebounds with one assist, one steal, and one block.     Samantha Smith, Southern Virginia - The freshman guard from American Fork, Utah averaged 13.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 assists per game as the Knights posted a 2-0 record last week against USA South foes. In an 87-41 win over Mary Baldwin, Smith totaled 13 points, five rebounds, two steals, and one assist. In a 67-65 victory over Pfeiffer, Smith scored 14 points, with seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Also Nominated: Taylor Watford, Methodist; Zakoreya Davis, William Peace.

  • Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
    Chance Bass, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Stern, North Carolina has competed in two events since the beginning of the new year. At the South Carolina Gamecock Opener, Bass ran the prelims of the 60 meters in 7.08 and finished the 400 meters in 50.23. At the Virginia Tech Invitational, Bass completed the 60-meter final in 6.98 after qualifying in the prelims with a time of 6.93. He also finished the 200 meters in a time of 21.81.     Antonio King, Brevard - The senior from Pamlico County, North Carolina competed at the Tryon International Winter Classic last week in two events. In the weight throw, King had a best effort of 15.00 meters while in the shot put, his top throw was 13.77 meters. Also Nominated: Jamel Corey, N.C. Wesleyan; McCormick Johnson, Southern Virginia.

    NaQuayla Stanford, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Jacksonville, North Carolina competed in two events at the Virginia Tech Invitational last week. In the prelims of the 60 meters, Stanford ran it in 8.00 while in the 400 meters, she finished in 56.66. Also Nominated: Makynna McDonald, Brevard; Bayleigh Redd-Armstrong, Southern Virginia.
