USA South Student-Athletes Headed to NCAA Convention

The annual NCAA Convention will be held at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland from Tuesday, January 13 through Friday, January 16, 2026. During the convention, the USA South Athletic Conference will be represented by 18 of its student-athletes as they participate in a variety of business forums, educational workshops, and collaborations with fellow Division III student-athletes.

"This is the fifth time, and second consecutive year, the Conference has sponsored student-athletes from its member institutions to attend the annual NCAA Convention," shared USA South Commissioner, Dr. Tom Hart. "The enthusiasm, inquisitiveness, and excitement the students bring makes this one of the Conference’s most meaningful initiatives. Throughout the four-day event, student-athletes gain valuable experiences — from leadership development to learning how legislation is crafted — and they consistently remark on the significant learning that takes place as well as the new friendships formed."

The first day will see the group receive their credentials and begin to get to know their fellow USA South student-athletes. The following morning, the USA South will co-sponsor a professional development session for any student-athlete in attendance while the afternoon will consist of an opportunity to interact with local Special Olympic athletes. The second day will conclude with NCAA President, Charlie Baker, giving his "state of the NCAA" address while current and former NCAA student-athletes who have made an impact on and off the athletic venues are showcased.

On Thursday, the student-athletes will connect with representatives from across Division III as they engage in discussions about the key issues currently affecting the Division. This will be followed up by a meeting with USA South administrators. The trip concludes the next day when the group attends the Division III business session, where delegates vote on new rules and regulations.
