Pfeiffer's Lowery Competes at NCAA Championship

Pfeiffer University senior Madison Lowery completed her record-breaking cross country career in becoming the first female in school history to compete in two consecutive NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday at the Big Spring High School cross country course in Carlisle, Pa.

The Kannapolis, N.C. product and back-to-back USA South Individual Champion placed  96th overall in the field of 293 runners by running a time of 22:27.7  Her time bested her 6K time from the 2022 NCAA Championships (23:12.7).

Lowery was the lone runner from the USA South that earned a trip to the NCAA Championship.

In the team competition, Carleton won the title with 151 combined points, three ahead of NYU (154). The University of Chicago finished in third with 156 points.

Individually, Fiona Smith of St. Benedict won the NCAA Division III Individual title with a time of 19:54.1.
