N.C. Wesleyan Runners Earn All-America Honors

Virginia Beach, VA - The N.C. Wesleyan track & field women's program competed at the NCAA DIII Indoor National Championships including freshman Kamiyah Wooten who competed for the first time at the national championships. Running on Friday in the 60-meter dash along with fellow student-athletes Mariah Brooks and Ti'Asia Bryant, Wooten would qualify for the finals in the 60-meter, running a 7.58 seconds to secure the Battling Bishop a spot in the finals for the second straight indoor season. In a heartbreaker, Wooten would miss the podium by 0.1 seconds after starting in lane number-one.

Hitting the track for the 200-meter event, Wooten would post the top time in the preliminary heats, breezing to a preferred lane draw in the finals with a time of 24.30 seconds. Turning the page to Saturday, Wooten tied for the highest finish in school history at the NCAA Championships, running a time of 24.24 seconds for a third-place result. Leaving Virginia Beach, Wooten can now call herself a two-time All-American in her first indoor season along with Ti'Asia Bryant who earned her first All-American honor this winter for the 60-meter event. Junior Mariah Brooks also added to her string of All-American accolades this winter, closing the chapter on the best indoor season in school history.
