BREVARD, N.C. - Following a nationwide search, Ryan Weber has been named the next Head Coach of Brevard College men's and women's tennis, announced Associate VP for Athletics
Dr. Myranda Nash. Weber will begin his duties at BC effective immediately.
"We are thrilled to welcome Ryan to the Tornado family," commented Dr. Nash. "Ryan's tenured experience in Division III and his commitment to a positive student-athlete experience makes him a great fit as a leader for our Tennis program."
Weber comes to BC after 17 years with his alma mater, York College of Pennsylvania, where he served as an assistant for a year before 16 years at the helm of the Spartan women's tennis program, and 15 years as head coach of York's men's tennis squad.
"I'm very excited and grateful to Dr. Nash and the entire athletic department for the opportunity to coach the tennis teams at Brevard College," stated Coach Weber. "I am looking forward to working together with the current and future student-athletes, along with the passionate tennis community of Brevard, to build upon the tennis program's past success."
Weber arrives at Brevard after attaining sustained success with York men's and women's tennis. He was selected as the MAC Commonwealth Women's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2021, a season in which Weber led the Spartan women's side to a MAC Commonwealth title and an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
York's historic year came in the spring of 2021 as the Spartans went 11-2 and won the MAC Commonwealth regular season and tournament title. The Spartans advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history and then went 1-1 in the tournament.
Following York's historic run to the NCAA Tournament, the Spartans went 9-5 in 2021-22 as York yet again appeared in the MAC Commonwealth championship match after going 6-1 in the league.
York women's tennis set a school record in 2022-23 as they earned 12 wins for the campaign. The Spartans went to their third straight MAC Commonwealth title match as they again went 6-1 in league play.
All told, Weber accumulated 131 total team wins on the women's side, and coached eight MAC All-Commonwealth selections from 2021-24.
On the men's side with Weber at the helm since 2009, York accumulated 114 total team victories and appeared in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament Semifinals six total times and for three-straight seasons (2022-2024).
In addition to his wealth of coaching experience at York, Weber served as a Tennis Pro at the YACTA Tennis Club in Hanover, Pennsylvania, and previously was an Assistant Tennis Pro at the York Outdoor Country Club.
As a student-athlete, Weber was a four-year player for York, as he accumulated an overall singles record of 33-30 playing primarily in the top three slots of the York lineup. He combined with various teammates to notch a doubles record of 32-22 as he earned 65 victories for his career. Weber was a two-year captain for the Spartans, serving as the team leader during his junior and senior seasons.
