USA South Athletes of the Week - April 27, 2026

  • Baseball Player of the Week
    Evan Sykes, Greensboro - The senior shortstop from Graham, North Carolina went a combined 7-for-15 (.467) with a .529 on-base percentage, and a 1.333 slugging percentage to go along with five runs scored, ten RBI, two triples, three home runs, one walk, and one hit by pitch in a 3-1 week for the Pride. In a 10-1 loss to Guilford, Sykes was 1-for-3 with a solo home run. In a three-game sweep of USA South foe Brevard, which gave the Pride the USA South regular season title, Sykes was a combined 6-for-12 with four runs scored, nine RBI, two triples, two home runs, one walk, and one hit-by-pitch.     Baseball Co-Pitchers of the Week
    Isaiah Faudoa, Greensboro - The senior from Houston, Texas earned a win in his only appearance, a start, last week for the Pride. In a 5-2 victory over USA South foe Brevard, Faudoa went eight innings and allowed two runs on ten hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

    Nathanael Volk, N.C. Wesleyan - The senior from Monroe, North Carolina earned a win in his only appearance, a start, last week for the Battling Bishops. In a 7-5 victory over USA South rival Methodist, Volk went eight innings and allowed five runs (two earned) on ten hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

    Baseball Rookie of the Week
    Ben Macimore, Pfeiffer - The freshman utility player from Oakboro, North Carolina went a combined 7-for-18 (.389) with a .500 on-base percentage, and an .889 slugging percentage to go along with six runs scored, ten RBI, three home runs, two walks, and two hit-by-pitches in a 2-3 week for the Falcons. In a 10-0 win over USA South foe Southern Virginia, Macimore was 1-for-2 with one run scored, two RBI, one walk, and one hit-by-pitch. In a 13-3 loss at Roanoke, Macimore was hitless. Finally, in taking one of three games from USA South rival Mary Baldwin, Macimore was a combined 6-for-14 with five runs scored, eight RBI, three home runs, one walk, and one hit-by-pitch.     Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
    Isaiah Ralls, Greensboro - The freshman from Spartanburg, South Carolina earned a win in his only appearance, a start, last week for the Pride. In a 20-2 win over USA South foe Brevard, Ralls tossed five innings and allowed two unearned runs on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Also Nominated: John Ruhl, Southern Virginia.

    Anna Frazier, Greensboro - The senior third baseman from Supply, North Carolina went a combined 7-for-14 (.500) with a .611 on-base percentage, and a 1.000 slugging percentage to go along with six runs scored, six RBI, one double, two home runs, two walks, two hit-by-pitches, and one stolen base as the Pride went 4-0 against USA South foes last week. In a doubleheader sweep of Southern Virginia, Frazier was a combined 1-for-5 with two runs scored, two walks, two hit-by-pitches, and one stolen base. In a doubleheader sweep of William Peace, Frazier was a combined 6-for-9 with four runs scored, six RBI, one double, and two home runs (both in the second game).     Softball Pitcher of the Week
    Ella Ebert, Greensboro - The senior from Buffalo, Minnesota appeared in two games, both starts, and earned a 2-0 record last week for the Pride against USA South foes. In 12.0 scoreless innings pitched, Ebert allowed six hits and five walks with 12 strikeouts. In a 3-0 win over Southern Virginia, Ebert went the distance, allowing three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts. In an 8-0 (five inning) win over William Peace, Ebert gave up three hits and four walks with three strikeouts. Also Nominated: Lillie Davis, Meredith; Malia Stauffer, Southern Virginia.

    Heather Vaughn, Pfeiffer - The freshman utility player from Eli Whitney, North Carolina went a combined 8-for-14 (.571) with a .571 on-base percentage, and a .786 slugging percentage to go along with six runs scored, five RBI, one double, one triple, and two stolen bases in a 4-0 week for the Falcons against USA South foes. In a doubleheader sweep of Meredith, Vaughn was a combined 2-for-7 with two runs scored, one run batted in, and one stolen base. In a doubleheader sweep at Brevard, Vaughn was a combined 6-for-7 with four runs scored, four RBI, one double, one triple, and one stolen base.     Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
    Abigail Bowman, Pfeiffer - The freshman from Lenoir, North Carolina appeared in four games, all starts, and earned a 3-0 record last week for the Falcons against USA South foes. In 20.0 innings pitched, Bowman posted a 2.10 ERA while allowing six runs on 14 hits with four walks and 14 strikeouts. In a 3-2 win over Meredith, Bowman went the distance, allowing two runs on six hits with zero walks and seven strikeouts to grab the victory. In a doubleheader sweep at Brevard, Bowman collected both wins in the circle by going a total of 9.0 innings and allowing one run on three hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
