's "50 Years in 50 Weeks" - 1975-76

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC) - The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of League memories, the USA South has produced "50 Years in 50 Weeks", a weekly chronicle of some of the great moments in Conference history.

1975 - 1976

  • Lynchburg departs the Conference, but not before earning its tenth consecutive Men’s Cross Country meet crown, the second-longest streak in Conference history.

  • Christopher Newport earns its first-ever Men’s Tennis title, a co-championship it shares with N.C. Wesleyan.

  • Methodist pitcher Earl Bunn tosses 14 complete games, 126.3 innings and compiles five shutouts during the season, records that still stand.

 

    
Conference Hall of Famer Clarence Caldwell from Greensboro scores 100 points during the Men’s Basketball Tournament to set a record that is still in the books today.


Methodist earns its first-ever
Men’s Golf Tournament title.
