's "50 Years in 50 Weeks" - 1977-78

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC) - The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of League memories, the USA South has produced "50 Years in 50 Weeks", a weekly chronicle of some of the great moments in Conference history.

1977 - 1978

  • Greensboro wins the first of three consecutive Men’s Golf championships.

  • Virginia Wesleyan wins its first-ever Men’s Basketball Tournament title.

  • Christopher Newport is in the middle of five consecutive Men's Tennis Regular Season championships.

  • Averett's Dick Giese becomes the first to earn Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year in the program's history.
