's "50 Years in 50 Weeks" - 1979-80

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC) - The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of League memories, the USA South has produced "50 Years in 50 Weeks", a weekly chronicle of some of the great moments in Conference history.

1979 - 1980

  • Christopher Newport captures its first–ever Men’s Basketball Regular Season title while UNC-Greensboro earns its first–ever Men’s Basketball Tournament crown.

  • Averett wins its first Conference championship, a Men’s Soccer title which would be the first of two straight crowns.

  • Christopher Newport wins the first of seven consecutive Track championships.
