's "50 Years in 50 Weeks" - 1983-84

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC) - The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of League memories, the USA South has produced "50 Years in 50 Weeks", a weekly chronicle of some of the great moments in Conference history.

1983 - 1984

  • N.C. Wesleyan Men’s Soccer’s Llans Thelwell scores six goals versus St. Andrews to set a single–game record that still stands today.

  • Christopher Newport establishes a volleyball tournament record with a .455 attack percentage for the entire tournament.

  • N.C. Wesleyan wins its first Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament title led by tournament MVP Daniel Wright.

  • St. Andrew’s Joanne Christopher sets a Women’s Basketball Tournament single-game record with 18 field goals made versus Methodist.

  • UNC-Greensboro wins its second consecutive NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer National Championship.

 


Led by All-American Mickey Sokalski, Methodist men’s golf finishes as runner-up at the NCAA Division III National Championships.
