's "50 Years in 50 Weeks" - 1984-85

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC) - The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of League memories, the USA South has produced "50 Years in 50 Weeks", a weekly chronicle of some of the great moments in Conference history.

1984 - 1985

  • Softball transitions from slow pitch to fast pitch and Methodist collects its first League Regular Season and Tournament Championships.

  • Christopher Newport men’s basketball sets a Conference record by attempting 55 free throws versus UNC-Greensboro.

  • N.C. Wesleyan baseball establishes a Conference single-season record by belting 74 home runs.

  • Greensboro wins its first, and so far only, Men’s Tennis tournament title.

 


Women's Soccer is first sponsored by the Conference and N.C. Wesleyan captures the first Regular Season title.

 
Greensboro wins its first Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament
championship led by tournament MVP Shannon Pulliam.

N.C. Wesleyan’s Charlie Simpson ends his career
as the League’s career home run leader in baseball with 47.
