's "50 Years in 50 Weeks" - 1986-87

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC) - The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of League memories, the USA South has produced "50 Years in 50 Weeks", a weekly chronicle of some of the great moments in Conference history.

1986 - 1987

  • UNC–Greensboro’s women’s basketball team captures the regular season title with a perfect 14–0 record.
  • Methodist volleyball sets Conference Tournament single-game record with a .600 hitting percentage versus Averett.
  • Methodist baseball’s Dan Hartline sets Conference single-season record with 80 RBIs.
  • Christopher Newport women’s basketball’s Pam Stewart sets League single-game record with 19 field goals made.
  • Christopher Newport’s Alisa Fox sets Conference single–game softball record for at-bats and hits versus Averett with eight and six, respectively.
  • Methodist sets single-game Conference baseball record with nine doubles versus Guilford.
  • Methodist’s Karen Grant claims both the NCAA Division III Indoor & Outdoor Track & Field Triple Jump Championships for the second consecutive year.
  • UNC-Greensboro wins its second consecutive NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer National Championship.

 


Averett men’s tennis captures its first-ever
Conference regular season championship.


Methodist baseball’s Jansen Evans sets a
League single-season record with 11 triples.


N.C. Wesleyan baseball’s Garry Ormsby sets a
Conference single-season record with 76 stolen bases.

 


Methodist volleyball wins the program’s first USA South Tournament Championship
and sets the single-season Conference record by playing 48 matches.
