's "50 Years in 50 Weeks" - 1991-92

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC) - The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of League memories, the USA South has produced "50 Years in 50 Weeks", a weekly chronicle of some of the great moments in Conference history.

1991 - 1992

  • Christopher Newport men’s basketball’s Steve Artis sets Conference single-season record for steals with 94.

  • Averett volleyball wins first–ever Conference Regular Season championship. The Cougars would go on to win the following nine titles.

  • Ferrum baseball wins its first-ever Conference Regular Season title.
Methodist men’s golf captures the program’s third
NCAA Division III National Championship.
Methodist women’s basketball captures its first Conference Tournament crown and
sets single–season Conference record with a .472 field goal percentage.

 


Ferrum men’s basketball’s Everett Foxx sets
Conference single-season records with 782 points scored and 373 three-point field goals made.
He also becomes the first and only Panther to win Conference Tournament MVP honors.


Ferrum men’s basketball wins its first-ever Conference Regular Season
and Tournament championships.

Future Conference Hall of Famer,
Ferrum baseball’s Billy Wagner,
sets Conference career record for earned run average with a 1.68 ERA.
