's "50 Years in 50 Weeks" - 2000-2001

(FAYETTEVILLE, NC) - The 2013-14 season serves as the 50th for the USA South Athletic Conference. In an effort to relive 50 Years of League memories, the USA South has produced "50 Years in 50 Weeks", a weekly chronicle of some of the great moments in Conference history.

2000 - 2001

  • Chowan women’s basketball’s Lachelle Waller sets Conference record for rebounds in a game with 28.
  • Averett baseball’s Armondo Reyes establishes the single–season batting average Conference record at .521.
  • Women’s Lacrosse becomes a Conference–sponsored sport and Greensboro captures both the regular season and tournament championships.
  • Methodist’s Julia Best becomes Conference’s career record holder in the sport of softball with 56 doubles.
  • Christopher Newport volleyball’s Nina Richardson sets single–match Conference record with 74 assists versus Averett.
  • Methodist men’s golf and future Conference Hall of Famer, Chad Collins, captures his third career Individual Division III National Championship.


Chowan University joins the Conference as a full member.

wins the first of her two career NCAA Division III
Women’s Tennis Individual National Championships.

 


The Conference conducts its first men’s soccer
tournament championship and Greensboro wins the crown.

 


The Conference conducts its first women’s soccer
tournament championship and Christopher Newport earns the title.

 


For the first time in its baseball program’s history, Christopher Newport
wins the Conference Regular Season and Tournament titles.
